Resolution No. 2
On Appreciation of Baptist Disaster Relief

We, the messengers to the 2011 Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, meeting at First Baptist Church, Moore, Oklahoma, November 14-15, 2011, commend the efforts of Oklahoma Baptists who have trained and participated in the Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief ministry. Their tireless efforts have provided relief to countless people, created numerous opportunities to share the Gospel, and provided hope in times of desperate need in our state, nation, and throughout the world. We will continue to pray for this ministry and encourage Oklahoma Baptists to become increasingly involved.

Resolution No. 3
On The Value of All Human Life

We, the messengers to the 2011 Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, meeting at First Baptist Church, Moore, Oklahoma, November 14-15, 2011, affirm the God-given value of every human life from conception to natural death. Oklahoma Baptists commit to demonstrate the value of all human life by promoting morality, honor, and sexual purity. We lovingly extend the message of hope, forgiveness, and restoration, which is available through Jesus Christ, to those who have chosen abortion. Oklahoma Baptists are devoted to lovingly support mothers and fathers considering abortion by encouraging Biblical options such as adoption. We call on Oklahoma Baptists to prayerfully consider how they can share the love of Christ through foster care or adoption and pledge to support those who do foster and/or adopt. Oklahoma Baptists commend and resolve to support the ministries of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children and Baptist Village Communities for valuing and enhancing all human life.

Resolution No. 4 On The Unborn

We, the messengers to the 2011 Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, meeting at First Baptist Church, Moore, Oklahoma, November 14-15, 2011, continue to place a special emphasis on the sanctity of preborn human life, recognizing life begins at conception. Our consciences are moved by the many Scriptures that compel us to protect life. Furthermore, we support legislation that curbs abortion and encourage lawmakers to enact statutes that acknowledge the full personhood of the unborn. We reaffirm our commitment of being a voice for every unborn child, created in all circumstances, by defending their right to live and be recognized as a person.

Resolution No. 5
On Appreciation for Pro-Life Leaders

We, the messengers to the 2011 Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, meeting at First Baptist Church, Moore, Oklahoma, November 14-15, 2011, applaud our past and present state leaders who have worked to make Oklahoma a safer state for the unborn. We commend and express gratitude to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and State Legislators for recently making public policies that protect, rather than put at risk, human life. We thank those who have undergirded these policy efforts with fervent prayer and support. We now pray that God would continue to use Oklahoma as an example for other states in this country and in nations throughout the world.

Resolution No. 6
On Support of the United States Military

We, the messengers to the 2011 Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, meeting at First Baptist Church, Moore, Oklahoma, November 14-15, 2011, recognize, with deep gratitude, the unselfish sacrifice and service given on our behalf by the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and their families. We specifically offer our prayers and condolences to the Oklahoma families who have paid the ultimate price for the protection of our freedom.

Resolution No. 7 On Human Trafficking

We, the messengers to the 2011 Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, meeting at First Baptist Church, Moore, Oklahoma, November 14-15, 2011, commit to continue raising awareness of all human trafficking, particularly in Oklahoma. We commend those who actively work to educate the public and rescue those caught within this horrific form of human exploitation. We resolve to pray and support the Women’s Missions and Ministries Human Trafficking Task Force and other organizations that are committed to the fight against this evil. We encourage Oklahoma Baptists to become aware of the signs identifying possible victims of human trafficking and the methods of reporting their concerns. Furthermore, we call all Oklahoma Baptists to set aside June 24, 2012, as a day of prayer for victims of human trafficking.

Resolution No. 8
On Christian Citizenship

We, the messengers to the 2011 Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, meeting at First Baptist Church, Moore, Oklahoma, November 14-15, 2011, in recognition of the 2012 national and state elections, want to encourage Oklahoma Baptists to fulfill their God-given responsibility to participate in the political process by registering to vote, being informed, and voting in accordance with Biblical values. We encourage and applaud our pastors and congregations who influence our government through involvement and prayer. We support Christian men and women who pursue positions of public leadership and service within the government at all levels. We continue to commit to pray for our elected leaders at the local, state, and national levels and encourage them to use the Holy Bible as their guide in all decision making.

Resolution No. 9 On Hunger

We, the messengers to the 2011 Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, meeting at First Baptist Church, Moore, Oklahoma, November 14-15, 2011, recognize the growing problem of hunger in Oklahoma and around the world due to famine and disasters. Research shows more than 600,000 Oklahomans are at risk of going hungry every day, including one in five children. We resolve to become increasingly involved in fighting hunger by volunteering, giving to local food banks, and giving generously to the Southern Baptist Convention’s World Hunger Fund.

Resolution No. 10 On Marriage and Family

We, the messengers to the 2011 Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, meeting at First Baptist Church, Moore, Oklahoma, November 14-15, 2011, commit to uphold the inerrant Word of God, which clearly defines marriage as one man and one woman bound together in a covenant relationship. This has been the understanding of marriage and family of the United States since its establishment as a free nation and has proven to be the most effective environment for raising well-adjusted children. We call on our national and state government leaders to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act. We believe a national constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union between one man and one woman is necessary to protect this long- standing foundation of our national social order.

Resolution No. 11
On Family Equipping and Discipleship

We, the messengers to the 2011 Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, meeting at First Baptist Church, Moore, Oklahoma, November 14-15, 2011, recognize God’s clear plan to use the family as the primary vehicle for evangelism and discipleship of children. We call on parents to accept Biblical responsibility for the spiritual development of their children. We encourage churches to equip families for this Biblical assignment of discipleship, and utilize children’s and youth ministries to reinforce their efforts.
